The Team
As the former Artistic Director of Opera Omaha I have lasting memories of years working in Omaha South’s auditorium creating productions with nationally recognized opera professionals and South High students…Omaha South was a warm, welcoming and fantastic place to be and work. Its faculty, students and administration were always reaffirming and supportive. So many great multi-generational collaborations grew from that welcome including an original opera Bloodlines written by students and composer Deborah Fischer Teason. Bloodlines was based on the dramatic history of Omaha race relations and reflected an ongoing story of South Omaha in 2004. It remains relevant to this day and is one Opera Omaha’s and my proudest achievements.
When I visit South High students today as the UNO Instructor of Musical Theatre, I feel the same warm welcome and dynamic atmosphere I remember from the 1990’s. I am proud to serve on this advisory for this well deserved and much needed renovation.
Omaha South is a great school! Bravo to those who are helping it be even greater!!
